Our new Poverty Media Coordinator Gavin Aitchison introduces some powerful photographs.
It is said a picture tells a thousand words – which makes photographers some of our most powerful storytellers.
Church Action on Poverty recently teamed up with a local photography club in Salford, to show the variety of life in the city where we are based.
Members of the St Phil’s Camera Club are working on a project called Salford: The Full Picture, with members of the club taking shots around the area, near our offices.
They have been capturing local landmarks and people, some of the newer buildings created as part of recent investment in the area, and also everyday scenes giving a unique insight into the contrast in Salford between old and new and rich and poor.
We will work with the club to find a way to showcase the photographs more widely over the coming months.
