A participant from one of our grassroots programmes has been acknowledged with a Heart of Salford award, at a ceremony which took place at Buile Hill Park in Salford on Monday 18 November.
Tony Leather (nominated by Church Action on Poverty) was among five nominees in the Personal Achievement Award category, and won the award despite stiff competition. Tony was highly commended for his achievements, both personally and on behalf of the Positive Changes Group – a support group for ex-offenders which was set up following a School of Participation run by Church Action on Poverty.
The group’s achievements include a booklet to support people leaving prison and a video to deter young people from getting into crime.
It was fantastic that Tony received this public recognition for all the positive steps he has taken, both in his personal development and in his encouragement of others to develop their potential.
